Hacks for the new school year

I’m so happy to announce to you that resumption season is upon us. Some people are back in school while some like me are getting ready to go back because reality has knocked and hot girl summer is over ( I wasn’t the hot girl this summer though *lol*).

I’m going to just be sharing some tips for the new session in this post most of which would be directed to new students (freshers, lol) but some would also be directed towards the elderly returning students like me . So if you know any new student that you love tell them they have to check this out.

  1. Money: you see that money that you think you have, just do yourself a favour by spending it wisely. One thing I learnt from this last session was that I wasn’t even earning the same amount with my closest friends. I was getting more than some of them while some were getting way more than I was. The point I’m trying to make here is that you can’t afford to live the way people around you do. You know that proverb of “cut your coat according to your size” let it be like an alarm constantly playing in your head. Save money. You’ll take soda like thrice a day if you are not intentional about your spending habits because it’s like there is someone selling it at a point easily accessible from any point in the university. I remember when I first got into the university and I was taking ice cream every night and on the first day of the next month I called my mum to ask her for allowance forgetting the fact that I resumed in the middle of the previous month and trust her to give me the typical African mother response. Point is don’t come here and spend your money anyhow.
  2. Relationships: make sure you form healthy relationships this year at school. Some people say it’s good to keep your circle small and all that, but I know that there are people like me that can’t afford not to have so many friends so this is just me saying just avoid toxic people because you will honestly meet them. Stay true to your beliefs and values but at the same time make constant effort to learn things from these relationships to help you be a better version of yourself.
  3. Have fun: Do not “not have a life outside your books”, don’t do that to yourself. Your life outside your academics will probably be your greatest support system when you get tired of studying. Give yourself treats sometimes, partake in extracurricular, just have fun however you deem fit, but I beg you don’t break school rules. You might enjoy the excitement but if you’re caught * haq haq haq*. Breaking rules is honestly not having fun.
  4. Read your books: this is the basic reason why you’re in school. To freshers, don’t let your first semester be the eye opener for you, so just read. I don’t know a sexy way to put read your books apart from read your books. Study because reality is gonna gonna knock at your door soonest lol.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to drop your comments and share with someone going back to school that you know. Till next time,

My name is Toyosi Adeniran (actually “Adeniran Ifeoluwatoyosi Abigail” which is quite long lol ) and just call me “TheToyosiAdeniran” because I feel like the ‘the’ gives it this catch and makes it seem like it’s just one name. You know the way some people say they are something by day and another thing by night, well I am a medical student everyday (both day and night). I am also an aspiring public speaker and very passionate about people knowing their rights and having those rights protected. And above all, I am a Christian and my faith is very important to me.
