Giving Yourself Credit!

Hey everyone! It is another beautiful Tuesday and thank you for being here to read my post, it means the world to me. I think my department is trying to kill me by the way, because school has been harder than usual and different exams keep coming up but it will definitely get better.

I have felt very overwhelmed this last week and I was ready to skip this week’s post and just apologise for it later, but I decided not to. I have not gotten a hang of this consistency thing fully but I felt very proud because it was a deliberate decision not to skip this week’s post. It felt like a really big win, and to be honest it still does.

This made me realize how I do not give myself credit for some of the work that I do that I consider ‘little’. A lot of people do it really, we are all waiting for that extraordinary thing to happen and we end up beating ourselves up when it does not happen in time. The thing is, a lot of people are not going to give you credit for the amazing work that you do. They will capitalise on your mistakes and forget some amazing things you have done. It is probably till you do something that seems like it is out of a blockbuster movie before some people begin to ‘rate’ you, and that is okay. Most people do not see all the work that you do behind closed doors so they can not exactly give you credit for that.

I was talking to my friend during the week about how I felt sad because nothing extraordinary had happened to me in a long while. I have had so many milestones in my short life, but for a while now I thought I was experiencing what I would call an ‘achievement drought’. It bothered me but someone helped me see that I just needed to stop seeing some things as too insignificant to be called an achievement. This is not an excuse to be lazy or slack, but I think that when people are aware that they are doing things well, it makes them want to do more in better ways. If nobody is going to give you a pat on the back for a job well done, you really should do it yourself!

I hope you give yourself credit for all the amazing things you do this week, no matter how little it might seem. I hope all your hard work pays off and all your dreams come true! Thank you for reading my post, like I always say- you deserve enjoyment!

P.S.- my friend is a young filmmaker and he did a thing, please check it out and subscribe to his channel.

Till next time,

My name is Toyosi Adeniran (actually “Adeniran Ifeoluwatoyosi Abigail” which is quite long lol ) and just call me “TheToyosiAdeniran” because I feel like the ‘the’ gives it this catch and makes it seem like it’s just one name. You know the way some people say they are something by day and another thing by night, well I am a medical student everyday (both day and night). I am also an aspiring public speaker and very passionate about people knowing their rights and having those rights protected. And above all, I am a Christian and my faith is very important to me.
